Background

Having established themselves as a leading provider of networked digital office solutions, IT @ Spectrum was faced with a marketplace offering huge potential for its products and services. The aim was to grow the sales team to exploit the potential.

The Challenge

The senior management team, who had previously fulfilled the sales management function, were now heavily involved in the day-to-day running of a growing business, and were unable to dedicate the time and commitment requirement to expand the team.

The Solution

To grow the headcount in the sales team whilst simultaneously training an developing an existing employee as Sales Manager, providing much needed management and control of the new team.

Making it Happen

Following an initial consultation, PHP were commissioned to design, plan and implement a professional recruitment programme, whilst tailoring a Sales Management development programme to suit the needs  of an "enthusiastic but inexperienced" employee. This included formal management training in addition to ongoing monitoring, mentoring and coaching.

Progress To Date

The existing employee who had been promoted to sales manager rose to the challenge and responded to the training and coaching, provided by PHP, way beyond IT @ Spectrums initial expectations.
PHP's director, Dean Hines, made himself available at all times (day and night!) for on the spot advice and mentoring.
The first new recruit, who joined as part of the recruitment process which PHP implemented, successfully completed their induction programme. Phase two of the programme is underway and should yield a second new starter within weeks.

Conclusion
